Meet Our Management Team
Sam has nearly 35 years of experience in the refrigeration industry, getting started as a refrigeration technician for Refrigeration Design in 1979. He served his apprenticeship with Hill Refrigeration before moving on to Hussmann Sacramento where he spent 25 years working his way up to foreman and project manager positions.
Sam started RSI as a small shop, focused on customer service and building strong, lasting relationships. RSI has grown to become the premier refrigeration company in Northern California and the Sacramento Valley.
Vice President – Finance
Marcus grew up around the refrigeration industry, spending his summers in the field learning the trade from the ground floor.
Marcus joined RSI full time after earning his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He earned his MBA at UC Davis, Graduate School of Management with concentrations in Strategic Management, Business Analytics, and Entrepreneurship.
Vice President – Operations
Travis has 20+ years of experience in the construction industry working on projects ranging from commercial buildings to utility scale industrial complexes in remote foreign nations including Qatar, Bahrain, Iceland, and Curaçao. Travis started his career in construction digging ditches for the family’s general contracting company. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before spending nearly a decade with Bechtel, a multinational engineering and construction firm. Travis has managed approximately $750M in construction contracts, building airports, aluminum smelters and power plants – most notably the one-of-a-kind Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating Facility in the Mojave Desert. Travis brings a unique skill set to RSI which supports him in his role working to expand the company’s operations & contracting capacities.
Vice President, National Sales
Mark Baumgardner brings a wealth of life and professional experience into his position as Vice President of National Sales. Mark’s professional career started with a 6-year tour in the United States Marine Corp where he rebuilt tank engines along with developing strong leadership skills. Upon an honorable discharge, Mark started his refrigeration career with Hussmann corporation in Chino, CA holding positions as a refrigeration systems fabricator, construction coordinator and installation technician. Over the next 10 years, Mark held roles as service supervisor, construction foreman and construction manager before moving into sales. He has been in sales for over 16 years, and has held positions as Regional Sales Manager and National Sales Manager with responsibilities for dealer/representative development and direct sales of various refrigeration equipment components and contracting services for commercial and industrial refrigeration clients throughout the U.S. In addition to above the sales responsibilities, Mark is actively involved in new business development, new product development and sales & marketing for both Advanced Refrigeration Systems and Refrigeration Solutions. He achieved a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in Sacramento, CA.
Vice President, Administration
Chelsey rose up through the ranks at RSI, growing with the company and learning all of the ins and outs of the business from taking customer calls and dispatching techs, to ordering parts, managing the company finances, and the accounting department. Chelsey is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
